QR code generator
The free QR generator creates a designed code with colors, shapes and a logo — everything runs in your browser, nothing is stored in the cloud, and you download it as a PNG or SVG. The most popular use: a code that opens a WhatsApp chat with you.
What you can encode
- A link or website address.
- A WhatsApp chat — a number plus a prefilled message.
- Plain text, email, phone or SMS.
- WiFi network details to connect in one scan.
- A digital business card (vCard) with name, company and contact details.
Creating a WhatsApp QR code
- 1Choose the WhatsApp content type.
- 2Enter the number in international format — no + and no dashes, e.g. 972501234567.
- 3Optionally add a message that appears prefilled in the chat.
- 4Download the code as a PNG or SVG.
💡 Scanning the code opens a WhatsApp chat with you, with the message ready to send.
Designing it
- A color for the code and the background, with an optional gradient.
- The shape of the dots and the corner frames.
- A logo in the center — the file stays in your browser and is never sent to any server.
- The error-correction level and the width of the quiet zone (the margin around the code).
💡 When you add a logo, error correction locks automatically to H (30%) so the code stays scannable.
Making sure it scans
The tool shows a live "Will it scan?" indicator with warnings about contrast and gradients. Before you print, check that:
- The code is dark on a light background, at 4:1 contrast or better.
- A logo covers at most 20–25% of the code, centered.
- There's a quiet zone of at least 4 modules around the code.
- The content is short — fewer modules scan more easily.
- You print at least 2×2 cm, and run a real scan test on iPhone and Android.
Download and where to find the tool
The tool is at otok.io/tools/qr-generator — free, no signup, and you download as a PNG (for screens and documents) or SVG (for crisp printing at any size).
💡 A static QR code freezes the moment you print it. A free oToK account unlocks a dynamic QR code: the printed code never changes, but you can edit the destination after printing and see how many people scanned it.
